In order to have each student brush up their English skills and to be able to work actively in a wide range of areas using these skills, the Department has developed its own Integrated English (IE) Program to assist first and second year students in mastering the English language. We have developed a multifaceted, specialized education based on this foundation. In 2010, we launched a new curriculum comprised of six courses: English Literature and Culture, American Literature and Culture, Global Literature and Culture, English Linguistic, Communication, and English Language Education. Third year students choose an area of specialization from among these courses and can conduct individual studies so as to further develop their areas of interest or strengths. The Department also prepares students for careers in education and has produced many licensed teachers. Furthermore, we have numerous exchange students from overseas, and we also operate our own summer language program in Oxford, England.
