In each field, students master high-level knowledge and skills, and the aim is to cultivate human resources with culture and learning that is valuable throughout the world. Faculty of Literature Admission Policy In this era of increasingly diverse information, the educational philosophy of the Faculty of Literature is to impart a wealth of culture, foster broad horizons as a citizen of the world, and encourage pursuit of greater humanity. This is achieved through research and language experience concerning works and materials from all times and places. In accordance with this philosophy, we accept students who will seriously apply themselves to study, and have a strong desire for personal growth. Department of Japanese LiteratureDepartment of Calligraphic CultureDepartment of Intercultural Studies Department of Japanese Literature Pursuing the beauty of Japanese language and literature Due to globalization in recent years, Japanese literature is now recognized throughout the world. In the Department of Japanese Literature, students explore the attractions of the Japanese language, and the depth of Japanese literature and culture. By cultivating proficiency in the Japanese language, and carrying out specialized research on literature and culture, students develop into individuals with a rich sense of humanity, who are outstanding assets as citizens of the world. Japanese Literature Course The distinguishing feature of this course is a broad yet detailed curriculum covering the unbroken tapestry of Japanese language and literature, from ancient to modern times. Japanese Cultural History Course This course is unique in directly approaching the people and events of Japanese history from the standpoint of cultural heritage artifacts and materials which remain extant today. To receive information and messages from the world's people, we must cross boundaries between nations and academic disciplines. Students in this course study the various cultures of the world, and literature depicting the people who live in those cultures. While honing their English capabilities, they master skills for seeing the world from an international perspective. English Communication Course The top priority goal of this course is communication in English. Through English language theater and presentations, students acquire a strong command of English in a variety of contexts.
